Do you want to know who your readers are? What are their preferences, their interests or their hobbies? If you knew all those, maybe your traffic would be higher. Or maybe you would have a bigger subscribers list.
A client asked me today if I can sketch a profile for his website visitors, without paying research companies. I went back home and started to do my homework, and I discovered that you can have your own internet research for free. Amongst the available tools, the following are worth mentioning:
1. Zoomerang: they have lots of survey services available, but they are not free. Yet, you can get the Zoomerang Basic version for free: ask up to 30 questions and collect up to 100 responses per survey. Results expire after 10 days. Ongoing membership is free.
2. SurveyMonkey: the Premium subscription is $19.95 a month, but they also provide a free basic subscription which includes all of the basic features of SurveyMonkey. All of your survey responses remain absolutely private. Basic subscribers are limited to a total of 10 questions and 100 responses per survey.
3. OpinionPower: it is free, you can define as many surveys as you wish, but they remain active for only 30 days, and they can include up to 10 questions. OpinionPower provides you a code which allows you to publish the survey results on your site.
4. QuestionPro: the basic license is free, and you can choose from more than 400 survey templates.
5. Survey Console: the basic subscription is free, you can have up to 100 responses per month, and you can define practically any type of question.
6. My3q: the basic version is free, you can define as many surveys as you want, there are templates you can choose from, and you can have four types of projects: survey, polling, examination and psychology test.
7. CustomInsight: a free trial is available.
8. SurveyPopups: you can create popup surveys to put on your site. It’s free and you don’t have to install any software.
9. CoolSurveys: surveys to display on your site for free.
I did not have the chance to define any survey yet, as I have just discovered the tools, but I’m going to try the first two on the list for sure. Then, I’ll let you know if my client is happy with the readers profile I’m going to put together.

Hi,
You missed a tool that is really free, with no limits to time or responses number: http://www.esurveyspro.com
Thanks,

Thank you, Florentin, I did not know about that. I’m going to give it a try.
