If gamers suffered from portability, CES 2010 brought them the solution: Dell announced the launch of Alienware M11X, their first 11 inch gaming notebook. Alienware is already well-known in the gamers’ world for its high performance systems. This new model features a 11.6 inch display, NVIDIA GT335M graphics and an interesting power management system which allows you to switch between the “gaming mode” and “integrated graphics”. In the gaming mode, the laptop battery will last for only two hours, but if you use the laptop in the integrated graphics mode, the battery lasts 6.5 hours, which is pretty impressive.
The laptop has both VGA and HDMI output and it supports a maximum screen resolution of 720p. Although the performance figures seemed to be very good, people discuss in some gaming forums that these figures were taken with everything set on “low”, despite the fact that Dell announced that Modern Warfare was tested in HD resolution.
Regarding the price at which Alienware M11X will be launched, Dell kept it secret, but only revealed that it’s going to be less than $1000. Availability is foreseen for spring 2010. For those of you who want to have an Alienware M11X but don’t want to pay for it, you can participate in the sweepstakes contest with weekly prize drawings organized by Alienware.

I had the priviledge to try this laptop out. While it is not as great as a solid gaming desktop.. it comes pretty close. It’s a viable solution if you are on the move a lot.. although I still dont really see the benefit of having a laptop, unless you’re really into LAN’ning.
I tried this laptop and it was really a great gaming experience
