When it comes to pet names, dogs are an exception: they surely know their names and respond when the masters call them by the name. Cats however, would respond only if they want to, so you can never be sure that a cat knows her name, or it is just a coincidence that she’s coming when you call her by the name.

Pet names are most of the time either very funny, or very common. Almost all cats in the world are called Kitty. Some people like to give their pet names which are human, like Lisa for dogs or Diana for cats. It is strange, but my pets never had names. I didn’t feel the need to call them by a name, as it was rather strange for me to refer to them as they’d actually understand their names. It is true that most of my pets were birds and hamsters, so it is understandable why I didn’t name them.

Starting the next edition, the 1001 Cats Blog Carnival is moving in a new house: we are going to finally launch a blog dedicated to cats of all sizes and shapes. What does a cat love mean?

It’s maybe the way she follows your eache and every step through the house?

Or maybe the way she jumps on your shoulders to give you a kiss on your hair?

Or those moments when she decides you need to be washed… and she’s doing you this favor with her tiny, rough, pink tongue?

That small forehead pushing against your feet… those little paws resting on your cheek… the toys she brings you over and over for hours… those eyes sending you thousand kisses… that’s what the love of a cat is made of.

How about the humans’ love for cats? Maybe it’s enduring all the scratches you get from your cat showing you love, without whinning.

If we only could forgive to our human friends what we forgive to our four-legged fellows, world yould definitely be a better place! Think of this whenever you’ll feel the urge to get angry on your child for breaking your favorite vase, or when you’ll feel like yelling at your friend that he forgot to water the flowers while you were away. I’ll say this to all my friends: love me like you love your cat!

Speaking of cruelty to pets, did you know that 9000 bears are currently “donating” their bile to humans? They are kept in small cages, with open wounds in the abdomen, with the sole purpose of draining their bile twice a day. The World Society for the Protection of Animals is in need for members and is inviting everybody to join them in their fight against animal cruelty. WSPA aims to stop the farming of bears across Asia.
