I wonder how many blogs about blogging does a blogger read on a daily basis. Perhaps we all read the stuff that’s been around for ages, the useful tips of Problogger, or the DailyBlogTips, or Copyblogger, or the considerations on Reader Appreciation Project (what? don’t tell me you don’t read it yet) … and the list could go on.

But when was the last time you added a new blog about blogging to your feed reader? How do you discover new blogs? Group projects can be a good way to do it. In the latest group project hosted by EMomsAtHome, one of the participants, Roberta Ferguson, wrote about Recognition, Reaching Out and Beyond, analysing the blogging and commenting behaviours of herself and of others:

“In blogging, I have a tendency to stick around those blogs that have the same central theme as my own. Within my circle, I read what my blogging friends have to say, if I have a genuine interest, then I comment, and if I feel strongly about the subject, I write a post of my own.”

Roberta is concerned on how to get noticed (or in other words: “do you want to get noticed?), or on defining blog goals, or rewarding regular readers, and she shows all these by asking her readers how do they do that. If blogs are about dialogue, then Roberta is trying to start it and make it flow, for sure.

My personal favourite post is Blogging Metaphors, where she associates blogging with stand up comedy. I have the same feeling about blogging. Thinking that comedy also needs a certain set up, Roberta’s blog has definitely an unique touch: she plays the character of the little devil girl, nice and smiling, making everything the simple way, needing refreshments now and then: “It’s hot being a devil, why not buying me a drink to cool off?”. I wonder how comes that no entrepreneur thought to open a cold drinks bar in hell, but that’s another story
Keep on the good work Roberta, and may you get some air conditioning for your devilish place. I invite you to take your rolling blogroll badge and put it on your blog, if so you wish.

If you don’t have children, then you may not know how it may be like organizing the chaos that is life with kids. Neena knows, as she has 4 of them and she proudly manages them all for raising them socially responsible.

Neena’s blog, A mom’s life, gravitates around children (see posts like Allowance and Kids or Healthy Kids and Sweet Treats), but not only. As a gadget collector, Neena blogs about technology, computers, or internet. Did you think that’s all? Not a chance! Not before you try the Awesome Salad Recipe she’s so proud of, or you read about her ultimate choice of cookware.

Briefly, although new, A mom’s life is already a must read and a help for new (and future) mothers. I’m the proud “mother” of a kitten, and yet I found a very useful article about poisonous plants.

Good luck Neena, and congratulations for the balance you found for your life and for the way you raise your children. I’m sure they will be so proud of their mother!

Making money online is a never ending quest for many of us. Either you made big money and now you show us how you did it, or you made some money and seek for more, or you have just started, you all like the sound of these words: “make money online”. So does Kumiko Suzuki, who started her personal cash quest in December, and who is now doing three figure blogging… with extra pink.

Kumiko’s Cash Quest is one of the most beautiful blogs about making money online. Besides, it shows a lot of creativity, in both content and design. After being excluded from AdSense, Kumiko wrote an exceptional Ode to blogging, which has to be sung to the tune of “Mercedes Benz” by Janis Joplin and which is meant to reach some delicate ears out there. Even if you are not interested in making big money online, this ode to blogging is a must read.

Back to the serious side of online money making, Kumiko is very transparent, showing her blog’s earnings in the sidebar. There is still a money making program which Kumiko’s sidebar will never show: AGLOCO. Her prediction is that AGLOCO will not make money online, ever. Her argumentation makes a lot of sense, and the latest Viewbar delays somehow confirm her predictions.

Blogging is all about lessons, be them taught or learned. Find out the 6 lessons Britney Spears can teach you about blogging. Lesson number 6 is the best of all!

With AdSense left behind and with the lessons from Britney Spears learned, Kumiko is now exploring alternative ways of making money online. Not only does she write reviews, but she also pays attention to the results of other sites ordering reviews on well known blogs.

Kumiko’s Cash Quest can be watched closely, thanks to her Earnings Reports archives, and it can also bring some easy online money into your virtual wallet.

Special dedication to Kumiko (and an invitation to grab your Rolling Blogroll badge and display it on your site):

A blog full of learnings, and humor, and pink,
Standing out of the crowd and making me think
About how you feel when you make money online.
I don’t have to think very far: it surely is fine!

I’m not Google, you know, and not Shoemoney either,
But I wish you the most you can possibly gather
In your quest for making big money online.
May your blog be soon in the very first line!

If your blog were a mousetrap, how would you have built it better?

I would have thought of blogs rather like being a kind of fishing rods (with all that linkbaiting talk out there). Yet, there comes Susan Driggers, author of Life is Risky, “the latest incarnation of her digital life”, challenging us to find new ways of improving our sites.

Simple, business 101. They, as in John Chow and Lee Dodd know how to run a business and that is how they run their sites, as businesses. If we want to succeed we are going to have to do the same thing. See our site as a business and learn what it takes to make it better. Sometimes we will have a great idea and the place will be an overnight sensation. More often though it will be a slow uphill battle, but a winnable one none the less.

Under the category tag Build a better mousetrap, we discover the ten rules of website promotion, out of which, one is quite interesting: “Steal from worth competitors. If it works for them, think of a way to make it work for you.” Do you agree with that?
Another interesting series is The 4 Ps of marketing, out of which, promotion seems to be a key factor for your site’s success.

As a proof to that, Susan managed to climb up to the top of Google for the search phrase life is risky. With more than 3 million results out there, this is an achievement worth studying: analyse her blog and try to find out the small, well-chosen elements which pushed her so far on the Google ladder.

Life is Risky is only 4 month old, but it already has a pool of 92 worth-reading articles, amongst which I would mention the reviews Susan does for other blogs. One of these reviews, namely What have you been thinking about today, brought her the nice prize of a blog redesign (a fine tuning of the layout and graphic elements which give the page a stylish, modern look).

So, my dear readers, life is risky anyway, so why don’t you just accept the challenge and do your best to build your better mousetrap? Or blog? Or whatever else?

This post is part of the Rolling Blogroll series. Congratulations, Susan, you can take your badge and display it on your site… sorry, on your mousetrap!

Did you know that lions can mate 100-200 times a day? This means about 4-8 times per hour. They do this without neglecting their other daily duties, such as hunting, eating or sleeping. What about humans? Well, although there are some (busted) rumors that men think of sex about once every 52 seconds, the frequency is much lower than in the lions’ case (not that we should aim to equal that!). Either we cannot find an appropriate date, or we are too shy to take the first step, or we are afraid of being rejected, or we are simply so stressed by our jobs and duties, that we neglect our partners.
What if you are in one of the above situations and you don’t have anybody to talk about it? Well, now you have. You can simply ask Dan and Jennifer. This young and open minded couple is running a blog about dating, relationships, love, and great sex.

Their slogan? Question everything!

A 50+% divorce rate should tell us that what we’re doing now is not working. As a society, we are evolving into a new era. Outdated views around relationships (what truly defines a relationship?), marriage (read “ownership” - you own your car, not your partner), and sex (sex is not bad, we are sexual beings and that’s OK) must to be revisited.
“Question Everything!” It’s time to start thinking for ourselves rather than simply regurgitating everything that been programmed into our heads since we were little children and blindly accepting our parents belief systems.

Their promise? Get your questions answered!

Their big promise is that you’ll get your questions answered, and they seem to keep it so far. Should you still need a proof before submitting your question, browse through Dan and Jennifer’s articles and discover which are the top 10 signs of a cheating man, or the top 10 signs of a cheating woman, or find out whether it is possible to love two men. For those who use online services, there is one good article teaching you how to spot a fake online profile. Sometimes Dan and Jennifer make use of video to explain their audience some dating tips and tricks, such as How to avoid the single biggest mistake most people make. Sometimes, they bring humor into the equation, giving you fun and creative date ideas.

Dan and Jennifer are conducting some research on their blog, with surprising results. Please find here an excerpt, and you can go to the poll source to see the periodical updates.

Here’s the breakdown as of 3/1/2007

•	35% of our readers (1060 votes) said that they would be willing to try swinging with the right group of people
•	20% of our readers (599 votes) said that monogamy is the only way to go
•	16% of our readers (492 votes) were strongly against it
•	16% of our readers (497 votes) are active in the swinger lifestyle and lovin’ it
•	13% of our readers (392 votes) said it’s not for them, but they don’t have a problem if someone else does it

What do you think your partner would have answered? Question everything!

I don’t know. Although I did it more than once in my lifetime, each time the reason was different, and each time the shift was a secondary effect of pursuing other dreams.

Browsing through BegForPost (an innovative service where bloggers can practice the art of begging - they beg for free reviews from other b9oggers), I noticed one of the beggars, asking for a review from Problogger’s Darren Rowse. Well, I don’t know if (or when) his begging will hit its target, but it surely hit my curiosity. This beggar-blogger is Rehuël Lobato de Mesquita, from Suriname, and he writes www.rehuel.com | Writings of a web developer. Rehuel is currently in the process of switching from fulltime web designer to fulltime blogger, and he writes about this, and about the steps to take, in order to make a smooth transition. It surely is an interesting read. There are not so many posts, as the blog is new, but it already contains some useful bits of information.

In his latest post, From tabled to tableless design, Rehuel explains the advantages of using CSS instead of tables in web programming. If I still had a shadow of doubt regarding this CSS stuff (which requires, at least from my side, a lot of study), now I am convinced it is worth the pain of doing it.

With categories like Domains, Tools, Design, Software, or Reviews, Rehuel.com promises to become a must read, at least for the beginners in these areas.

Congratulations, Rehuel, for your new blog. You can take your Rolling Blogroll Badge and display it on your site, for your readers to see that you’ve been reviewed by AllTipsAndTricks.

Usually, experts in blogging, or in communication in general, advise us to write for the readers, or not to use so much the particle “I”, or to use bulleted lists and short paragraphs.

Jessica Duquette, the voice of Career Mom Radio, contradicts all these experts (at least at the first glance), by letting us know from the very beginning that “It’s not about your stuff”, but “It’s all about me, isn’t it?”

Her blog is centered on de-cluttering, be it physically or mentally, so after reading a few articles, you realize that it is all about the stuff which we clutter day by day. Yet it is not our stuff, because we barely need it and we don’t use it at all.

This is how Jessica describes her mission:

My gift as an organizer is to help people navigate the shark-infested waters of letting go of the things in their life that no longer serve them. Please visit my lifestyle strategy blog at www.itsnotaboutyourstuff.com

Has it ever happened to you that an old relative dies, and you help your family to sort the deceased person’s stuff? It is unbelievable how many items we can collect in a lifetime. From old, rusty screws, to pieces of wood, or to old coins, things beyond our imagination are piled and stored everywhere, not used since maybe a decade ago.

I have a principle: if you did not use an item over the past two years, throw it away! It’s very little probable that you really need it. I can tell you this works.

Jessica Duquette turned the need of de-cluttering into a successful business:

When I moved to LA in the summer of 2000, I started my company, In Perfect Order, armed with a ground-breaking perspective on clearing and harmonizing space by blending lifestyle management coaching with hands-on professional organizing services.
Over the last few years, I have assembled a crackerjack team that specializes in transforming homes, garages and offices into efficient, usable spaces that our clients love to live, play and work in. We also can pack you up and project-manage your move anywhere in the world!
My team works in the Los Angeles area, primarily the San Fernando Valley and the West Side and Santa Monica, however, we are available to travel anywhere in the world.

In case you want to give it a thought, you can find out why we clutter, making us ask what we want from life. Or we can discover that we need to let go: release our emotional stuff along with the clutter.

You can extend this whole stuff to your office, and discover a Feng Shui remedy for getting rid of creepy co-workers.

When it comes about money, Jessica explains us what is the zero based budget, and how to manage our finances better.

Less than one year old, “It’s not about your stuff” already offers quite a big number of articles, very useful if you consider putting some order into your stuff and get things done (or get rid of things).

Thank you Jessica, for reminding us that life is not a bunch of items, or hard feelings, or bad memories stored in our homes or in our minds. Indeed it’s time to let go! You are invited to take your Rolling Blogroll badge and put it on your site.

It could be that volatile feeling that puts sparks of joy and creativity in our eyes. It could be that state of mind which makes us getting things started (as opposed to “focus”, which makes us getting things done). It could be children’s play, creating wonders out of a bunch of cubes. Or it could be half of the act of breathing. You decide.

What is the use of inspiration? Find out with Inspiration Bit, a very young but promising blog, with an inspirational touch that leads to knowledge:

“Knowledge comes from an inspiration - one bit at a time.”

Written by Vivien, Computer Science literate and mother, Inspiration Bit provides information about web design and development, art and photography, web 2.0, computer and internet tutorials, special websites reviews, and many more.

I often find myself scouring the internet looking for either answers to many questions I have or websites that inspire me, sites that I can learn from. On what topics you might ask - any topics that interest me, anything from web design to art and photography, from blogging to entrepreneurship, from programming to open source.

If knowledge came one bit at a time, inspiration travels in packs of 8 bits (or multiple of 8):
-	8 bits of colour inspirations brings to you some useful colour resources on the web
-	Get inspired by 8 bits of unique navigation provides you the occasion to see 8 websites highly creative in terms of navigation facilities
-	8 remarkable Wordpress themes – Vivien’s choices of beauty and functionality

Some bits of humour come with the very explicit post about what digg can do with your website. If you don’t want to see your site going through that process, then you can try these 29 traffic generation tips that actually work.

Not monetized, the blog is very readable, clean and not cluttered, focusing on facilitating the readers the access to its best bits (aka Top posts) and to people keeping the dialogue bits alive (aka Top commenters).

Original in both content and design, creative and thoughtful, Inspiration Bit brings a fresh perspective to internet communication in general, and to blogging in particular.
Thank you, Vivien, for the inspiration highway you are building for us, 8 bits at a time. I invite you to take your Rolling Blogroll badge and display it on your site.

Do you remember from your childhood the nice, shiny marbles of all colors? They were so beautiful, and their glass full of wonderful sparkles turned them into real treasures. Did you ever lose one marble? Can you recall that sadness, that anxiety, that feeling chasing you around, that maybe one day you’ll find your precious marble again?

Well, for some of us, finding our marbles turned into a long and painful journey, spread across many years, or many hospitals, or many drugs.
Scott Davis is one of these children, who found his marbles at the end of a 23 years long journey, and who recently started this blog, Finding Your Marbles – A Mental Health Survival Guide. Scott’s purpose is to offer advice and support to all people out there, who are seeking for information on mental health.

When I began treatment for depression, there were many resources available to help me recover from mental illness. However, I found that there were few resources available to help me learn how to live with mental illness. For example, there was little information available about how to stay organized or plan your time when you suffer from depression. The information that was available was either very condescending, or it required a huge investment of time and energy to get started. This was a major problem for me, since I was trying to hold down a career and keep a marriage together at the same time as I was recovering from depression.
I also found that the therapy and the anti-depressant medication had side effects that were affecting my life, and there was very little information available to help me deal with these side effects. In short, I needed advice on how to get through life, and I needed it fast.

Finding Your Marbles can help you choose a therapist, or how to reward yourself, or even how to survive a party. In case you don’t see why you need to survive a party, think a bit further: think of people suffering from anxiety, as this post is addressed to them. Indeed, they tend to worry about everything, they are afraid that people don’t like them… Here, Scott makes a good point: if you were invited, it’s for sure that at least the host of the party likes you and wants you to be there.

I can emphasize that enough. A party is a chance for a group of people who like each other to get together and have fun. If you were invited, it means that your host likes you, and he or she thinks that the other guests will like you too. So when you go to a party, keep that in mind. The people there will be happy to see you, and your host will be glad you came.

Please don’t get me wrong: even if you are in good health, there are also useful resources for you in Finding Your Marbles, such as learning how to relax using deep breathing techniques, or the ten minute therapy.

If you take my advice and stop by Scott’s blog, don’t forget to move your mouse over the marbles in the header. You’ll be surprised.

Good luck Scott, and may you never lose your marbles again. I invite you to take your rolling blogroll badge and put it on your blog.
