Spotplex Launches Content Aggregation Site

PC World announced today the launch of a Digg competitor. The new site, Spotplex.com, looks very much like a Digg clone, but unlike Digg, stories are not rated by users, but ranked according to the number of people who read them. The number of “votes” represents in fact the number of readers that story had (there is no mention of how much must a visitor stay on a page to count as a reader).

How to submit a story to Spotplex: don’t! In order to get your stories inside, all you have to do is to ask for a code, then to insert it in your blog’s code. Once done, your blog articles will show up at Spotplex every time they are read.

You can also find out what the most popular articles are in your blog in a given timeframe and how many times they are read. This is interesting: supposing one of my articles gets dugg, and given the fact that I have the Spotplex code installed, this could amplify even more the digg effect.

Absolute vs. relative popularity: The relative popularity measures how much more traffic an article received compared to normal traffic level of the site. The age of the article is also considered in the calculation.

Provided you installed the Spotplex code, if you want to access your statistics page, you can either type in your browser: http://www.spotplex.com/code/(your code goes here), or you can simply click on the Spotplex button on your site. You can try mine, if you are curious. I don’t know why Spotplex counts only 10 articles on this site (which has about 400 posts), but I’ve just installed the code ten minutes ago.

Do you think Spotplex is better than Digg?
