When I was a child, I used to like watching rodeos on television. Horse riding seemed fascinating, and I always thought I would have liked to try it. Unfortunately, in those times, we didn’t have any rodeos in our country, like the NFR (National Finals Rodeo), which offers horse riders the occasion to show their skills in various categories of riding. The only time I’ve ridden was when my parents took me to the Zoo, and allowed me to ride a pony. All I remember from that experience is that the pony was quite smelling, and instructor was kindly asking me not to kick it in the belly, because it is pregnant. It was not a nice experience, I went back to my television rodeos and cowboy dreams.
Nowadays, everything is easier. Wrangler National Finals Rodeo tickets can be bought online, and one can even visualize the seats which he’s going to take. This edition of NFR is going to take place in December this year, and it is sponsored by Wrangler (this explains also the name).
The NFR will take place in ten sessions, between December 4th and December 13th, and it comprises seven trials:
- Bareback riding
- Steer wrestling
- Team roping
- Saddle bronc riding
- Tie-down roping
- Bull riding
- Barrel racing (reserved for women in exclusivity)
Who knows, maybe I’m going to attend one of the next editions of this rodeo.
